FROM MY DESK

Seasons’ Greetings!  And best wishes to Chuck Richardson as he moves into his new role working on iNEMI special projects.  Our new year will start off quickly! Mark your calendar for the TWG organizing teleconference on January 8 (to outline the 2019 Roadmap and prepare for the TWG kick-off). As the new iNEMI Roadmap Manager, this will be my first WebEx to lead.  Also plan to attend the face-to-face PEG Workshop/TWG Kick-Off meeting held at APEX (February 25 and 26 in San Diego; additional details below).   I will send the agenda and TWG materials for the 2019 Roadmap shortly to the PEG and TWG chairs to preview. I wish all a Happy Holiday and a Bright New Year!

Linda Wilson, iNEMI Roadmap Manager

Get Involved

Working on the iNEMI roadmap and being on the “ground floor” guiding that information is an exciting place to be as we determine the next set of solutions for the electronics industry.

The roadmap is developed by volunteers from the electronics manufacturing industry, and iNEMI membership is not required to participate. The 2019 Roadmap will be organized into 28 groups, representing the individual roadmap chapters: seven Product Emulator Groups (PEGs), which cover product sectors, and 21 Technology Working Groups (TWGs), which cover technology and business/infrastructure areas. We are starting with the same PEG and TWG chapters as last cycle (subject to change depending upon staffing issues with volunteers) plus plan to add a chapter on Smart Manufacturing (more information is coming soon.) See a list of current PEGs and TWGs, as well as the roles and requirements for roadmap team participants.

We are currently looking for chairs and/or co-chairs for the following PEGs and TWGs:

  1. Consumer & Office PEG (Chair & Co-Chair)
  2. Portable & Wireless PEG (Chair & Co-Chair)
  3. Automotive PEG (Chair & Co-chair)
  4. IoT (Internet of Things) PEG (Chair)
  5. RF Components & Subsystems TWG (Chair & Co-Chair)

If you’re interested in getting involved in a PEG or TWG — either as a chair/co-chair or as a contributor — please contact me, Linda Wilson

PEG Effort: Industry Analysis Report
A key source of information for the roadmap is an industry analysis report provided through Prismark Partners. A draft of this report will be released in early February to inform both the final PEG emulator spreadsheet updates and the resulting work by the TWGs. The PEG teams have reviewed their key attributes for this cycle for the 2019 iNEMI Roadmap and, to date, no major changes have been suggested for the emulator spreadsheet. We will continue to update as we receive new insight from this industry analysis.

RESEARCH PRIORITIES SCHEDULED FOR PUBLICATION
We are completing the 2017 Roadmap cycle this month with the publication of the Research Priorities. The iNEMI Research Committee (a subcommittee of the Technical Committee) uses the strategic gaps defined in the roadmap and the iNEMI Technical Plan (now available to iNEMI members) to develop the iNEMI Research Priorities, a document provided to industry, government and academia to help focus research resources on the critical gaps. Watch the iNEMI website for this document.
