FROM MY DESK

As the APEX events approach, the preparations for the PEG Workshop and TWG Kick-Off on February 25 and 26 are finalizing. We will hear updates from all the PEGs with respect to the latest industry analyses from Prismark, and then the TWG teams will formalize and share their plans to revise their reports. iNEMI is also evangelizing for the roadmap effort during APEX week, spreading the word of this historical electronics roadmap and the value it brings to iNEMI members, roadmap participants and, of course, the electronics industry. We will be present throughout the week, and if you would like to “meet up” in person feel free to contact me. In the meantime, we hope to see you at the kick-off!  Information and how to register is below in this newsletter.

Smart Manufacturing Continues to Be Explored
Smart manufacturing will be pervasive as part of the next industrial revolution, and many topics that iNEMI addresses through its roadmaps will be impacted by it or will enable its success. iNEMI continues to make progress to include this topic in the 2019 Roadmap cycle. In January we held two meetings to explore this fast-going market and the role of iNEMI. The team decided that a new Technology Working Group (TWG) is the most likely way to address the topic in the roadmap, as many product types are part of this topic. Chartering work, building the team, and developing the framework for a new Smart Manufacturing TWG are topics to be discussed during a meeting at APEX. If you are interested in participating in this new iNEMI TWG, please contact me, Linda Wilson.
Coming Soon: Prismark Industry Analysis Report
This month look for the Prismark draft report to be sent to the Product Emulator Groups (PEGs) and TWGs. This report will provide information for the 2019 Roadmap PEG emulator spreadsheet and the resulting work by the TWGs. The PEG teams will receive insight from this industry analysis and present their updates at the upcoming PEG Workshop and TWG Kick-Off meeting at APEX in San Diego.
Be a Part of the Effort — Team Ramp-Up Underway
All PEG and TWG teams are now starting their work to update product parameters for their PEGs or preparing TWG plans for updating roadmaps for the 2019 Roadmap cycle. We are searching for people to lead the following teams:

1. Consumer & Office PEG (Chair & Co-Chair)
2. Portable & Wireless PEG (Chair & Co-Chair)
3. Automotive PEG (Chair & Co-Chair)
4. IoT PEG (Chair)
5. RF Components & Subsystems TWG (Chair & Co-Chair)

If you’re interested in getting involved in a PEG or TWG — either as a chair/co-chair or as a contributor — please contact me, Linda Wilson.

The 2019 Roadmap is currently organized into 29 groups, representing the individual roadmap chapters: seven PEGs, which cover product sectors, and 22 TWGs (including the new Smart Manufacturing TWG), which cover technology and business/infrastructure areas. PEG and TWG teams include all industry participants; membership with iNEMI is not required. See a list of current PEGs and TWGs, as well as the roles and requirements for roadmap team participants.

Join Us — PEG Workshop/TWG Kick-Off at APEX (February 25 & 26; San Diego, California)
We will kick off TWG activities with a meeting held in conjunction with APEX EXPO 2018 on Sunday, February 25 (1:30-5:00 p.m. PST) and Monday, February 26 (8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. PST). Meetings will be held in room 5B of the San Diego Convention Center.

This meeting formally starts the work of TWG chapter planning. Day 1 will include a set of PEG presentations to provide information as to what to expect in the way of existing and new product sector needs over the 10 years covered by the roadmap. Day 2 will focus on TWG activities and include working break-out sessions.

All PEG and TWG team members are strongly encouraged to attend and represent their teams. If a chair or co-chair cannot attend in person, please plan to send a delegate on your team’s behalf, or plan to call in through WebEx. Presentation templates and pre-read materials will be sent to all soon. Register now for this event.

WebEx access will be provided for those unable to attend in person. Please contact Linda Wilson or sign up for the WebEx sessions on the registration page.
