2009 iNEMI Roadmap European Kick-off Meeting
Co-sponsors:  IEEE CPMT Society, Fraunhofer IZM
and IMAPS Europe
Wednesday, 14 November 2007, 13:00 - 17:00
Productronica 2007
Munich Messe, Conference Room A21
Munich, Germany

Background
Since 1994, iNEMI (the International Electronics Manufacturing Initiative) has been developing a biannual technology roadmap spanning a ten-year horizon.  In 2004, the initiative was expanded to proactively recruit global participation.  The first European meeting was held in 2005 and focused on introducing attendees to the iNEMI roadmapping process and ensuring that European issues were included in the 2007 Roadmap.  This second meeting will build upon this baseline but will be more attuned to the normal iNEMI roadmap process and focus on introducing the new product sector plans for the 2009 cycle.  Attendees will then be asked for their feedback on the PEG (Product Emulator Group) plans and also speak to their interests in any particular TWG (Technical Working Group) chapter(s) and any specific areas of interest from a European aspect based upon the PEG input.

Objectives
Objectives of this meeting are:
   -  Review the iNEMI roadmap process for 2009 with attendees
   -  Build on and increase European participation/leadership from 2007
   -  Present technical presentations of interest from European speakers
   -  Align European participants' interests with appropriate TWG chapters
   -  Connect participants with appropriate TWG Chairs for 2009
   -  Ensure inclusion of European issues in the 2009 Roadmap

Intended Audience
   -  Representatives from industry, institutes and government interested in participating in the roadmap
   -  Electronics industry leaders looking for information about the iNEMI roadmap process before expressing interest in participation for the 2009 Roadmap

Benefits of participation
By participating in this meeting, you will gain an understanding of the iNEMI roadmapping process in terms of its current capabilities and impact.  You will also share the experiences of past roadmap participants who will report results from their respective PEG/TWG chapters.  This meeting will give you the opportunity to interact with iNEMI staff and ask questions that are important to your decision-making process for getting involved in the 2009 Roadmap. It will also provide an excellent opportunity to interact with key European regional technology and business leaders.

Participation in the 2009 Roadmap will help you gain insight into the likely future direction of the electronics industry by helping to identify technology and business gaps.  This collaboration can influence the strategy and investments of your company as it considers its future plans for technology and supply chain initiatives.
