Background
Since 1994, iNEMI (the International Electronics Manufacturing Initiative) has been developing a bi-yearly technical roadmap spanning a ten-year horizon. The North American kick-off meeting has always served as the formal start of the roadmap cycle. Since the decision by the iNEMI Board of Directors in 2004, directing that the roadmap become global to meet its members’ needs, this meeting has followed the European kick-off meeting at Productronica but remains the formal kick-off due to the fact that it is the first time in the cycle that all of the PEG and TWG chairs come together to plan the roadmap. This timing assures that the feedback from the European kick-off can be addressed by the PEG Chairs as a part of their emulator presentations and that the European volunteers from the meeting can be placed in touch with their respective Chairs prior to the N.A. kick-off.
The afternoon of the first day of this meeting will showcase the PEGs (Product Emulator Groups) emulators and highlight changes from 2007. The first half of the second day the TWGs will meet to formulate their responses to the highlighted emulators, discuss plans for developing cross cutting relationships with other TWGs and review non-North American recruiting status. The second half of the second day the TWGs will then be asked for a short report out on their plans for 2009.
Objectives
Objectives of this meeting are:
- Review the iNEMI PEG emulators for 2009 and highlighted changes from 2007
- Build on and increase participation/leadership from 2007
- Develop cross cutting relationships between TWGs
- Connect participants with appropriate TWG Chairs for 2009
Intended Audience
- PEG/TWG Chairs for the 2009 iNEMI Roadmap cycle
- Representatives from industry, institutes, universities, other associations and government interested in participating in the roadmap
- Electronics industry leaders looking for information about the iNEMI 2009 Roadmap process before expressing interest in participation for 2009
Benefits of Participation
PEG Chairs will have the opportunity to present their 2009 emulators and highlight any changes from 2007. TWG Chairs will have the opportunity to see and hear the PEG presentations and begin formulating their responses to those issues as well as beginning the development of cross cutting relationships with other TWGs. Attendees that are simply investigating whether they should participate in some way will have the opportunity to interact with key technology and business leaders, as well as iNEMI Staff, and ask questions that are important to their decision making process.
Participation on the 2009 Roadmap will help you gain insight into the likely future direction of the Electronics industry by helping to identify technology and business gaps. This collaboration can influence the strategy and investments of your company as it considers its future plans for technology and supply chain initiatives.
