Meeting Overview
The iNEMI Optoelectronics Technology Integration Group (TIG) has scheduled meetings to coincide with the optical communications industry's OFC/NFOEC 2006 conference (March 5-10, Anaheim Convention Center, Anaheim, CA.; for conference information, go to www.ofcnfoec.org).  This open meeting will provide a review of results from the Fiber Connector End-Face Inspection Project followed by a discussion of potential new projects.

The one-day iNEMI meeting is scheduled for Monday, March 6, at the Anaheim Marriott, Newport Beach Room (adjacent to the Convention Center).  There will be teleconference capabilities for anyone interested in participating who cannot attend in person.

iNEMI Fiber Connector End-Face Inspection Project

Project Focus:

This project is developing requirements for allowable surface defects, such as scratches, pits, and contamination.  Based on experimental data and the results of mathematical modeling, the group plans to define the zone criteria and pass/fail visual requirements for polished connectors, single mode fiber.
