Environmental Regulations & Data Exchange

Legislation pending in Europe will require electronics manufacturers to track and disclose the material composition of their final products, including subcomponents purchased from suppliers. This information will be used to ensure that products do not contain banned materials (such as lead) and will also be important for end-of-life disposition. These requirements will affect the electronics manufacturing supply chain worldwide.

The PLIM TIG is coordinating with NEMI's new Lead-Free Transition initiative to determine how PDX standards might help facilitate communication of materials content data throughout the supply chain.
