Counterfeit components have become a multi-million-dollar issue within the electronics industry that can affect every segment of the market, including consumer goods, networking and communications, medical, automotive, aerospace, and defense. Use of counterfeits can lead to increased scrap rates, early field failures, and increased rework rates, all of which are not only costly but can damage brand reputation and — in the case of mission critical systems — represent a hazard.
iNEMI is organizing a webinar series focused on counterfeit issues and challenges in the supply chain.  The objective of the series is to:

  • Understand perspectives regarding hardware counterfeit along the value chain
  • Identify key and credible reference sources and standards
  • Identify any key gaps that need to be addressed
  • Identify and share current and potential best practices
The initial webinar on October 19 will do context setting, looking at what is being experienced by the industry today.  Additional webinars are scheduled for November 7 and December 7 (watch the iNEMI calendar for further details).

Counterfeit Survey
In preparation for the series, we are conducting a brief survey regarding industry experiences with counterfeit components and would like to get your input. We will use the information from this survey to make sure the first session and the entire webinar series is relevant to the electronics manufacturing industry. The results of the survey will be shared in an aggregated fashion during the initial session and help inform the speakers on the challenges that have been identified. Please take the survey to share your perspective and experiences with us to help set the stage for this webinar series. Survey deadline is September 22.
