iNEMI Adds Consultant in Japan

Herndon, VA — May 4, 2010 — The International Electronics Manufacturing Initiative (iNEMI), an industry-led consortium, today announced that Masahiro Tsuriya has been named an iNEMI consultant to represent the organization in Japan and other parts of Asia.  From his base in Tokyo, he will interact with iNEMI member companies in the region as well as prospective members.

Tsuriya has more than 20 years of experience in semiconductor packaging technology.  He joined Motorola Japan in 1988 and continued with Freescale Semiconductor Japan when it spun off from Motorola in 2004.  Over the course of his career with Motorola/Freescale, his responsibilities included supplier quality certification, material technology evaluation, new package certification and transition to Pb-free and halogen-free solutions.

Tsuriya has a bachelor degree in mechanical engineering from Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology (National University).  He is a member of JIEP (Japan Institute of Electronics Packaging), IMAPS, SEMI and IEEE.

“iNEMI has significantly increased our activities in Asia since opening our office in Shanghai in 2007, and we are looking to expand our presence even further,” said Bill Bader, CEO of iNEMI.  “We held a very well-attended workshop on packaging and substrate technologies in Nagoya, Japan, in November 2009.  This workshop identified several industry gaps and from this came a set of proposed collaborative R&D projects that are very closely tied to the Japanese electronics industry.  Japan is an area where we are targeting to increase awareness of iNEMI and encourage involvement in our efforts, whether it’s roadmapping or collaborative deployment activities.  I believe Tsuriya-san will be a valuable asset in helping us do that.  He has a strong technical background and has been very involved in the electronics industry in Japan.”
