iNEMI Early Registration Deadline is Approaching for the Symposium on Global ICT Environmental Initiatives

HERNDON, VIRGINIA (September 2, 2009) — Anyone planning to participate in the Symposium on Global ICT* Environmental Initiatives can take advantage of the discounted registration fee through September 11.  The event, sponsored by iNEMI (International Electronics Manufacturing Initiative) and Intel Corporation, is scheduled for 27-28 October in Brussels.

Keynote speakers for the symposium are Don Whiteside, Vice President, Legal & Corporate Affairs and Director, Global Public Policy for Intel, and a representative from Nokia.  Other speakers include:

This symposium will address ongoing issues related to “low-halogen” electronics, as defined by the elimination of brominated flame retardants (BFRs), chlorinated flame retardants (CFRs) and PVC from electronic products (BFRs/CFRs/PVC below 900ppm).  Discussions will include the impact these changes are expected to have on the electronics manufacturing supply chain, including material availability, cost and reliability.  The agenda will also cover such topics as the lead-free transition, lifecycle assessment for ICT equipment, and carbon footprinting.

Registration
The registration fee for participants who sign up by 11 September is 400 USD (~285€), payable by credit card or wire transfer.  After 11 September, the fee is increased to 500 USD  (~355€).  The symposium will be held at Le Méridien Brussels (Carrefour de l'Europe 3, located across the street from Central Station).  Rooms are available for meeting participants at a special rate of 199€ per night for reservations made before 24 October.
