STMicroelectronics' Benedetto Vigna is Keynote for iNEMI's MEMS Workshop

Leaders from electronics industry and the research community will tackle the challenges of developing and adopting MEMS technologies

HERNDON, Virginia — September 7, 2011 — Benedetto Vigna, corporate vice president and general manager of STMicroelectronics’ Analog, MEMS and Sensors Group, will be the keynote speaker at the International Electronics Manufacturing Initiative’s (iNEMI’s) MEMS Workshop next week (September 15-16) in Brighton, England.  The workshop, supported by the MEMS Industry Group (MIG) will focus on needs and opportunities within the MEMS industry.

The workshop, which is open to industry, will discuss the challenges of developing and adopting MEMS technologies plus set priorities and direction for future industry-led collaborative programs.

“As a rapidly growing technology area, there are many infrastructure-related issues facing the MEMS industry,” said Bill Bader, CEO of iNEMI.  “There are certain challenges that all companies must address as the industry expands, and many of these could be more effectively addressed collaboratively within the supply chain rather than each company developing its own stand-alone solutions.  Through this workshop, we hope to identify the major technology areas where the electronics industry has the greatest potential impact on improving the reliability, testability, performance and cost of MEMS–based solutions.”
