MED-EL CEO Ingeborg Hochmair and TechSearch President E. Jan Vardaman Headline the Agenda at iNEMI's Medical Electronics Workshop

Herndon, VA — September 8, 2010 — Dr. Ingeborg Hochmair, co-founder and CEO of MED-EL, a leading innovator in cochlear implant technology, will be the keynote speaker at the International Electronics Manufacturing Initiative’s workshop, Challenges Facing Medical Electronics Packaging and Substrates, September 16-17 in Berlin.  Dr. Hochmair will discuss the life changing role played by cochlear implants and the challenges faced by society as we strive to deploy these technologies on a global basis.

E. Jan Vardaman, president and founder of TechSearch International, is slated as the dinner speaker on September 16.  TechSearch is a technology licensing and consulting company specializing in the electronics industry and providing strategic market analysis, competitive analysis, technology trends, and evaluation of product strategies in the field of semiconductor packaging and assembly.  Jan will discuss the future of medical electronics and the unique role that packaging will play to help miniaturize medical devices for both home and hospital applications.
 
The iNEMI workshop will explore the substrate, packaging and interconnect technology challenges and standardization gaps anticipated in the implantable and portable segments of the medical electronics industry.  The goal is to identify the most critical needs, determine which needs are best solved through collaborative efforts and then form action groups to initiate the required work.
