iNEMI Names Grace O'Malley Vice President of Operations
The International Electronics Manufacturing Initiative (iNEMI), an industry-led consortium, has named Grace O’Malley vice president of operations. O’Malley has served as manager of iNEMI’s European activities since 2007, most recently as managing director for the EMEA region. She replaces Robert (Bob) Pfahl, PhD, who will retire from iNEMI at the end of the year.

“Grace brings a great set of strengths and capabilities to this role,” said Bill Bader, CEO for iNEMI. “With her international manufacturing experience she has been a valuable asset to us in Europe and I expect her to be able to grow her contribution when working with our worldwide operations and members. She has increased iNEMI’s recognition and activities in Europe and, most importantly, has led significant growth in our European–headquartered membership over the past three years by driving real value for European electronics manufacturing companies. Her experience and leadership will help iNEMI grow its value proposition for our current and future members.”
Bader says that O’Malley will begin the transition into her new role during the fourth quarter of this year and will officially start as the new vice president January 1, 2014. She will continue to reside in Limerick, Ireland.
Commenting on the new set of challenges facing her, O’Malley said, “I am excited to be taking on this role in iNEMI and to have the opportunity to work with many of the industry’s leading technologists and innovators. I look forward to continuing to help iNEMI members maximize the benefits of being involved in such a consortium. iNEMI is helping the industry strategize and plan many paths to success through the consistent delivery of the well-recognized and comprehensive iNEMI technology roadmaps and our pre-competitive collaborative projects, which enable iNEMI members to achieve their technical and, ultimately, business goals faster than they could working independently.”
Bob Pfahl has served as iNEMI’s vice president of global operations since 2002 and, prior to that, worked with Motorola, where he was involved with iNEMI from its inception. He served as director of roadmapping for the 1994 and 1996 cycles (the first roadmaps published by the consortium). He was also a founding member of iNEMI’s Technical Committee, which plans the consortium’s technical strategy and prioritizes research needs of the electronics manufacturing industry.
About iNEMI
The International Electronics Manufacturing Initiative’s mission is to forecast and accelerate improvements in the electronics manufacturing industry for a sustainable future. This industry-led international consortium is made up of more than 100 manufacturers, suppliers, industry associations and consortia, government agencies and universities. iNEMI roadmaps the needs of the electronics industry, identifies gaps in the technology infrastructure, establishes implementation projects to eliminate these gaps (both business and technical), and stimulates standards activities to speed the introduction of new technologies. The consortium also works with government agencies, universities and other funding agencies to set priorities for longer-term industry needs and R&D initiatives. iNEMI is based in Herndon, Virginia (near Washington, D.C.), with regional offices in Shanghai, China; Limerick, Ireland; and Tokyo, Japan.
